Thailand’s Climate
Thailand is tropical, which means it’s hot and humid all year around with temperatures around the 28-35°C range (82-95°F) – you can find some sort of relief from the heat if you go into the mountains, which are in the north of Thailand.
Even though Thailand is tropical there are three seasons:
- Cool season: This is from November to the end of February, even through the cool season it doesn’t rain much and you’ll find that the temperature is at their lowest. In south Thailand you want even feel the cool season. And if you are walking in the northern mountains you only need to pack a jumper or thin coat to keep warm. The cool season is a very popular time to visit Thailand because the temperature is still warm and many people visit Thailand around Christmas and New Year’s.
- Hot season: The hot season is from March to June, and Thailand can swelter in temperatures as high as 40°C (104°F). This is very nice if you are visiting the beautiful beaches but can be very hot if you are there to visit temples.
- Rainy season: Is from July to October, though often the rain doesn’t start until August or September, and you can find that tropical monsoons can hit any part of the country. Through the rainy season it doesn’t mean it will rain non-stop, but when it rains it will pour and flooding is pretty common at this time of the year.
